Additional Background Information:
Supporting Merazonia has direct effect: with the help of volunteers and donors we implement successful and groundbreaking rehabilitation programs. From primates, to sloths, felines, parrots or a neotropical otter, we do it all and continue to develop new rehabilitation and release programs. Donations are vital for the animal care and release projects of Merazonia. We do not receive governmental funding and for the wellbeing of the animals, also do not receive tourists in our reserve. You can help by adopting an animal, sponsor a project or help us in other ways, such as volunteering!
Volunteers help us in the day to day care of the wildlife. In general we have around 10 to 15 volunteers from all over the world at any one time. We are currently caring for well over 100 animals, including: capuchin, tamarin, red howler and woolly monkeys; many species of parrots and macaws; kinkajous and other small mammals such as sloths; and felines.
