- Our mission is to take an authentic and sustainable approach to community-driven development in impoverished regions of East Africa. That means supporting schools and community-based organizations to manage education and health interventions that generate lasting change for local people.

- Global Partners works hand-in-hand with public schools and community leaders in East Africa to develop individualized, sustainable solutions to the most pressing problems facing their campuses and communities. We engage with schools and communities to bolster indicators related to education through individual projects will benefit their school, village, and/or greater community in the areas of school infrastructure, health and water, and girls education and development via intentional community-driven development.
History:- Global Partners was founded in 1978 as a membership organization called World Runners International Foundation. Its main objective was to focus attention on and generate support for ending hunger and starvation in the world. Over fifteen years, World Runners raised $6.5 million for organizations working to end hunger and poverty. Its success was built on a network of personal relationships, established by members from every state in the U.S. and over 50 countries. In 1989, we began to work directly with East African community leaders in Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda to identify and implement projects in the areas of health, education, and water and officially became Global Partners for Development in 1993.

- From the beginning, the organization has focused on community-driven development. The Global Partners grant process begins when people from rural villages across East Africa present their visions about how to improve their lives. From school infrastructure to clean water sources, communities bring forward innovative and locally relevant project ideas that provide insight into their daily needs, social constructs, political networks, and hopes for the future. Global Partners projects are proposed and managed by local people who embrace project ownership throughout the implementation process and take responsibility for the project for years into the future.
