Full Description

Description

A co-initiative of GVN and GVN-Foundation, the Eat So They Can global fundraiser raises money for the Global Children's Fund which is distributed between our partners in South America, Africa, Eastern Europe, and Asia. What better way to experience first hand where the money raised from these events goes than to volunteer with one of our partners in a GVN program?

GVN volunteers in Uganda have a variety of options ranging from teaching arts and crafts to children in a local village to assisting with HIV prevention through a community outreach program. Most projects have little or no resources, so foreign volunteers with different ideas and experiences are highly valued.

* obtain a police check from your home country prior to volunteering
* sign a general waiver of liability
* have a positive and outgoing personality

Detailed Location Information
As a general rule we can not place short-term volunteers beginning January 1st as all projects take a few weeks to get going in the new year. We advise you to plan your arrival for January 15th, or February 1st in the case of teaching placements.

Volunteers will be given a private room at the Mukono town headquarters of the organization as their home base. As most work is done in surrounding villages, volunteers will be billeted short-term at various villages during their stay.

For all village placements, accommodation and daily meals will be provided within the village of placement, and will range from private apartments to rooms in private homes. No more than 2 volunteers will be placed together in any village placement.

About Eat So They Can

Eat So They Can is an international fundraiser that invites citizens of the world to participate in what is collectively one huge dinner party; where something as simple as sharing a meal with friends can help stop child poverty. We aim to raise money for the African Children's Fund which will go support our partners in Africa in the movement to end child poverty. Learn More
