Description

A co-initiative of GVN and GVN-Foundation, the Eat So They Can global fundraiser raises money for the Global Children's Fund which is distributed between our partners we work alongside in South America, Africa, Eastern Europe, and Asia. What better way to experience first hand where the money raised from these events goes than to volunteer with one of our partners in a Global Volunteer Network program?

Global Volunteer Network currently have opportunities in Ethiopia where volunteers will assist our partner organisation's mission to rescue children off the streets and give them a better life. Volunteers will be involved in tutoring children after school with a focus on conversational English, grammar, science, and mathematics.

Cost Details
Volunteers start on the 1st of every month. A US$350 application fee (fully refundable if you decide not to go) will secure your place on the program. Once your application fee is paid the remainder of the cost for your time in the Ethiopia program is: Cost for 1 month - US $797 Cost for 2 months - US $1247 Cost for 3 months - US $1697

Skills Needed/ Experience
As a volunteer in Ethiopia you must:

* be between 18 and 59 years of age
* have no major health problems
* have some skills in special education, music, computers, administration, or grant writing

Volunteers need to be able to develop new and creative projects, as well as techniques for instructing children with special needs. In addition, volunteers will work in staff development, finance and accounting, computer training, and/or grant writing.

Please note that this project requires volunteers who are self-starters, who can take part in a flexible schedule, and who can work with minimal supervision.

The program is located in the suburb of Asko, about 25 km outside the capital city of Addis Ababa.

Eat So They Can is an international fundraiser that invites citizens of the world to participate in what is collectively one huge dinner party; where something as simple as sharing a meal with friends can help stop child poverty.
