| Each year East Meets West has about 10 groups of international dentists, hygienists, dental assistants, and dental students volunteer to help our program. Volunteers typically stay for 10-14 business days and work initially in our clinic where they will be familiarized with our program policy and procedures. Volunteers often accompany the dental staff on outreach trips to local children's centers or village schools. The Dental Program is divided into clinical and outreach programs. A full range of corrective care is provided in our clinic location while emergency and preventive services are performed in the field with our portable equipment.
The Clinic has been in operation since 1996. The clinic is directed by Dr. Charles F. Craft and is staffed by a ten-member Vietnamese dental team. International dentists from around the world work together with the EMW dental team to provide free modern dental services to poor children (age 5-15) living in Central Vietnam.
