Description

You will be at the side of our Haitian partners as they go into the streets, the courts, the police stations, the government headquarters, the neighborhoods, the homes of victims of human rights abuse. This presence has proven to be a morale booster as well as a catalyst in achieving better results in human rights advocacy. At times it will be helpful to go to agencies and advocate on behalf of the needs of Haitians, especially those agencies that are English speaking and/or American.

Airfare to Port-au-Prince; room and board ($30 per day); transportation $10 a week; phone usage $20

Skills Needed/ Experience
The accompanier needs to have a calmness and assurance that her/his presence will contribute to the pursuit of human rights of poor Haitians however badly abused. This calmness overcomes fear but also keeps the person alert to any real dangers. Ease with travel and difficult inner-city conditions.
 
Detailed Location Information
Accompaniers will travel with the AUMOHD legal team in and around the capital of Port-Au-Prince.
