Description

You?ll meet with and learn from Amizade?s community partner since 2003, the Association of Clubs (AOC). The AOC has been recognized by the Jamaican Government for its excellence in locally-driven rural community development. Each year, the AOC works with community members to identify projects for Amizade volunteers. Sometimes these efforts include helping with building projects, developing parks, or working with local children. Whatever your service, you?ll provide much-needed support to the AOC and the families it serves, and you?ll have a great time with a wonderful group of people. You?ll stay with local families who are part of the AOC network, where you?ll experience a warm introduction to Jamaican life and insightful commentary on local experiences.

Detailed Location Information
Petersfield, Westmoreland County:

Jamaica is popular for it's tourist beaches, tropical beauty, and warm, friendly atmosphere but the majority of the island is not visited by tourists. Volunteering in Petersfield takes the tourist experience deeper and provides the opportunity for visitors to participate first-hand in the life of a small, rural community. Staying in home stays and supporting a burgeoning eco-tourism initiative, volunteers will contribute their skills while absorbing the stories and strength of people working to build a better future for their community.

Be sure to visit our website (www.amizade.org) for additional information on Jamaica and similar volunteer opportunities.
