The Big Picture
SAEP's Music Programme has recently began to include Marimba lessons as part of its curriculum. This instrument was chosen because it is (1) quick to learn, (2) satisfying in its sound (unlike the recorder!), (3) capable of being played in a group environment, and (4) of African origin.
As such, the instrument has proven to be an outstanding success with our learners. SAEP currently has 2 Marimbas for use by the students, but needs to finance tranport and stipends for the Marimba instructor, as well as teaching materials for the classes.
Impact of Your Donation
SAEP owns two marimba sets, donated by amaAmabush Productions. We now are seeking donations to provide the students with a qualified Marimba instructor and weekly lessons after school.
One lesson with an experienced teacher: R200 (~$25 )
30 Annual Lessons: R6000 per school per year (~$758)
Lessons for each of 4 schools: R24 000 per year (~$3031)
