All Photos IDA-Africa's mission is to provide sanctuary in a natural environment for chimpanzees orphaned by the illegal bushmeat trade in Cameroon and to wage a conservation campaign aimed at saving the country's remaining wild chimpanzees and gorillas.

Description of Services:
IDA-Africa's Sanaga-Yong Chimpanzee Rescue Center in Central Cameroon provides sanctuary to 66 orphaned chimpanzees, ranging in age from babies to adults, whose mothers were killed for the illegal bushmeat trade. IDA-Africa also wages an education/ sensitization campaign to save chimpanzees and gorillas from extinction in Cameroon and to promote conservation of habitat. IDA-Africa produces and disributes posters and brochures, gives presentations in schools and villages, and broadcasts radio spots aimed at raising awareness of the illegal bushmeat trade, and the plight of remaining wild apes. The IDA-Africa administrative office is located in Portland, Oregon.
