The Big Picture

Mayanmar (Burma) was hit hard by cyclone Nargis on May 3. It is the worst natural disaster in East Asia since the tsunami of 2004. Help provide for basic medical needs, clean drinking water and shelter to survivors.

Most of the 25,000 known deaths occurred in the southern Irrawaddy river delta region.

Towns in the Irrawaddy delta are still completely flooded and hundreds of thousands have been made homeless. The old capital Rangoon is without electricity and has received enormous damage to is infrastructure.
