| Literacy Partners, Inc. needs help from volunteers to become reading and writing tutors for our adult literacy program. Required training is provided by Literacy Partners, Inc. It covers strategies for teaching reading and writing to adult learners and also contains the opportunity to observe or participate in existing groups.
You will work once or twice weekly in small groups of adult literacy students and a co-tutor in a learning center at one of our Manhattan,New York centers. Tutors also plan appropriate learning activities and consult regularly with an Educational Center Coordinator. Once training is completed (about 20 hours over 3-4 weeks), volunteers can tutor in any of our morning, afternoon or evening programs. Trainings are usually held 4 times a year (summer, fall, winter, and spring). An orientation is required before being invited to training. For more information, including orientation dates, contact volunteermanager@literacypartners.org.
