Why I am involved:
"Pamela once told the UniversalGiving team a story of a boy, on a beach, surrounded by dying starfish. The boy threw one after another starfish back into the water to save them. A man who witnessed the act said to the boy, you won't make a difference - you cannot save them all. The boy replied, 'It will make a difference to that one.' This is why I am at UniversalGiving. I want to make a difference to that one organization that is helping the children of Haiti, that one family that is impoverished, that one person who is looking to volunteer across the world. After spending the last 8 years at home raising my two boys I know that my contribution to this world beyond what I teach my children will be to make a difference one small step at a time."

Why I am involved:
"Ever since a high school trip to Spain, I have had a fascination for working across cultures. During my trip, I visited some of the poorest parts of Mexico and was grieved to see families packed into tiny homes with no electricity or clean water. Seeing such poverty just across the border made me realize just how much help the world still needs. UniversalGiving allows me the opportunity to help poverty-stricken people from all parts of the world, and gives me the chance to learn more about the importance of social responsibility."
