The Big Picture
Contaminated water spreads cholera, hepatitis A and E, meningitis, polio, shigella, and typhoid fever. Lack of water also destroys crops and farm animals. In one recent three-year period, drought caused 60% of the world?s food emergencies.
In 1996-1997 Action Against Hunger installed 160 hand pumps in refugee settlements in Uganda, allowing people to receive up to 25 liters of water per day and reaching a 98% coverage rate in these settlements. Your donation will help this organization provide essential access to safe drinking water by drilling wells, tapping springs, and installing water systems in over 40 countries where we work. Through your contribution, we will train local teams to maintain this equipment and educate their communities about the importance of clean water and sanitation.
Impact of Your Donation
Your donations will truly make a difference, as over 90% of donations directly go to our field programs.
For $35 you help provide a hand pump for drinking water in Cambodia. For $75 you help purify 52,000 gallons of water in Niger. For $1,000 you help us dig a 50-foot deep well for a village in Uganda.
