Volunteers For Peace promotes International Voluntary Service as an effective means of intercultural education, service learning and community development. We provide projects where people from diverse backgrounds can work together to help overcome the need, violence and environmental challenges facing our planet. Our projects are a practical way to both prevent and resolve conflict.By participating in a voluntary service project, volunteers will help sow the seeds of a better future for us all.

Description of Services:

Our services include providing consultation and a placement service for workcamp hosts and volunteers, linking people with programs. Our programs foster international education, voluntary service and friendship.

International Workcamps are a short-term form of international voluntary service that emerged from war-torn Europe back in 1920. They are an affordable (most programs are US$300 for a 2-3 week program) and meaningful way that you can travel, live and work in a foreign country.

Our original sponsors/funders included "seed money" from the U.S. Information Agency, The Peace Development Fund and the Field Foundation.

Accomplishments & Progress:

Since 1982, we have exchanged over 25,000 volunteers worldwide. Over the years, VFP has become an increasingly important way for people to participate in service learning and citizen diplomacy.
