History:
Since the disruption and near annihilation of Tibetan civilization in the 1950s, the exiled Tibetan people have struggled to retain their ancient traditions. For more than three decades, the Tibetan Aid Project (TAP), founded by Tibetan lama Tarthang Rinpoche, has helped in this struggle. TAP functions on a non-sectarian and non-political basis.

By preserving Tibetan wisdom traditions and educating the general public, the Tibetan Aid Project works to ensure the survival of a culture that is invaluable to our shared human history.
Accomplishments & Progress:
- We fund the production, shipment, and distribution of sacred texts, art, and prayer wheels for donation to monasteries and individuals at the annual World Peace Ceremony. Click here to read more.

Additional Information

Additional Background Information:
Shipping to the World Peace Ceremony in India:
Each year, the Tibetan Aid Project ships these materials to Bodh Gaya, India to be distributed at the annual World Peace Ceremony.
In 2010, we shipped books to thousands of libraries throughout the Himalayan region.
Tibetan Aid Project pays for all shipping expenses.

Donating to Tibetans:
Thousands of people from India, Nepal, Tibet, Bhutan, and Sikkim receive these materials at the World Peace Ceremony each year.
Many texts are distributed to representatives of monasteries, nunneries, and schools of higher learning, as well as Tibetan lay people and small, remote communities.
For the first time, deeply dedicated practitioners have access to materials they need to preserve their wisdom traditions and foster education and literacy.
