The minimum education requirement for teachers in Mali is that they pass the 9th grade--this means that most teachers have never graduated high school , let alone gone to college. The Ouelessebougou Alliance provides annual training for 42 village teachers in 11 village schools so that they are prepared to provide quality education to their students in two languages--Bambara and French. The Alliance involves the Mali government in all trainings so that the teachers receive proper credit and recognition. Your $50 gift will train one teacher for an entire year to provide quality education. 1,750 students are now attending the Alliance's 11 elementary schools, so proper teacher training is critical!
