In San Jorge de Laguna, Guatemala women are learning to sew so that they can earn an income working from their home. After the 4 month class, graduates receive a sewing machine which they pay a small monthly fee as a micro-credit loan. This loan income is used to pay the salary of the sewing instructor and rent for the workshop. Learning to sew helps these women make money for their family, and it builds the women's self esteem. With their sewing machine, they can now provide an income for their family.
