A gift of $340 will enable a severely malnourished child to stay at a Nutritional Rehabilitation Home (NRH) until they are restored to their normal weight and good health. The Nepalese Youth Opportunity Foundation (NYOF) operates NRHs throughout Nepal. It takes about five weeks for the NRH staff, which includes a doctor, a nutritionist, and several nurses, to restore a child to health and treat any medical problems they have. During that time, the child's mother will also stay at the Nutritional Rehabilitation Home, where she is trained in proper hygiene, nutrition, and child care. She will learn how she can feed her family nutritiously on locally grown foods.
After the mother and child return to their home, your donation will allow NYOF's field workers to visit them three times to ensure the child is maintaining their weight and health, and see that the mother is applying what she learned and sharing it with her neighbors.
