Operation Healthy Heart is a program to help children who have congenital or acquired heart disease get life-saving operations they need to lead healthy, happy and productive lives.
Without funding assistance from East Meets West, it is likely the children would not survive. The children's parents are often rice farmers, teachers or construction workers who earn $1 a day. An operation would cost more than a whole year's salary. Just the trip to Ho Chi Minh City, as well as lodging and food, costs at least $60?equivalent to two month's salary. Therefore, it is next to impossible for families to pay for the required examinations, surgery and follow-up treatment.
Your donation of $1500 will provide for the total cost of heart surgery for a child in Vietnam.
