There are many ideas that the young villagers have to create income for their families. Whether it be a petrol station for motorbikes, a t-shirt business advertising their village, an artisans grant to continue the ancient tradition of scarf weaving, the building of a local website to encourage volunteers to come teach English, supplies to continue creating the beautiful art around them. You name it, they've got the ideas! We encourage their creativity and business saavy while having one of the elders oversee and help in their business development. The one thing we're continually amazed at is the pride and dedication of keeping the money in their village and spending it with local villagers in an effort to help sustain their own communities. It's extremely effective and heartwarming. In addition, they hope to save any left over funds to apply to university.
