Project: Vision, Medical, Microcredit, and Construction Efforts in Peru

We are expanding and improving our vision care project, partnering with local charities for Pterygium and Catarct surgery follow up. Our micro-credit project is expanding with the help of local a non profit. Our purpose is to provide economic opportunity to individuals and generate income opportunities that will reduce individual and family levels of subsistence. At the same time, creating a more vibrant economic atmosphere and increased market activity which benefits the entire community. Our village fish farms along the Amazon in Las Palmas will progress to self-sufficiency in 2012 and will be expanded as the funds are developed in country. We have added fruit production and reforestation as a necessary requirement to help river villages long term. Our aim with the fish farms are to improve economic opportunities for village families, to improvement their diet and to reduce deforestation in surrounding areas by providing villagers with an alternative fuel source such as charcoal.
