Project: Japan: Community rebuilding and music programs for tsunami affected schools

Help in the transition from immediate relief efforts after the tsunami to rebuilding and healing the community. RI continues to support displaced populations in the city of Sendai in the most devastated Miyagi Prefecture. Mobile medical clinics address traumas resulting from the disaster. Clean drinking water, hygienic supplies and other basic necessitates have been made easily accessible. Bridging the gap between immediate relief to long term sustainability, grants are being provided to schools music programs that lost valuable instruments during the storm. Through this, children are not only given an outlet for their pain but feel as valuable contributors to the rebuilding efforts. School bands benefiting from our loans spend their free time playing at local shelters and community centers, giving residents hope and courage to get them through these difficult times.
