The Big Picture
Earthquakes don't kill people, poorly built buildings do.
Another 230,000 deaths that could have been avoided. Build Change's work has already resulted in over 24,000 people living in houses that will not collapse on them in the next earthquake in Indonesia and China; support the expansion of Build Change's proven, effective post-earthquake housing reconstruction model to Haiti.

(1) Understand why buildings collapsed (and why they did not) so we can design safer buildings (2) Understand local architecture, cost of building materials, skills of builders, so that we can design safe, affordable houses that people want to live in (3) Develop design guidelines, engineering drawings, training resources in partnership with local officials/engineers and other agencies working in Haiti. (4) Train masons and homeowners to build safe houses.
