Additional Background Information:
Over its 25 year history, Hagar has been deeply committed to building capacity of other NGOs and government staff about best practices in working with those who have been traumatized. We have trained dozens of organizations in Central and SE Asia on Trauma Informed Care as well as numerous government entities on Victim Identification. Hagar believes that by building the skills of other organizations, local and government officials, that more survivors will gain access to higher quality services, thus enabling their recovery.
Hagar is very committed to being led by national staff where possible and currently employs 97% national team members. Hagar has fundraising and advocacy offices in New Zealand, Australia, Hong Kong, Great Britain, Singapore & the USA.
Hagar does periodically seek out qualified volunteers to help strengthen staff capacity or internal systems, to take on time-limited projects, etc. Given the international contexts where we work, candidates are carefully vetted.
