The Big Picture

ON July 3rd and 4th, 2011, two devastating typhoons hit the Mindanao region in the Philippines, affecting thousands of families and killing over a thousand people.

These typhoons wrought over $700 million of damage in the agricultural sector, incurring a loss of 13% in the 4th quarter of rice production. This has led the Philippines, the largest rice importer in the world, to import even more rice from its Southeast Asian neighbors.

Currently, 266,040 people remain displaced in overcrowded government evacuation centers in unsanitary conditions. AAI has been involved in humanitarian aid operations, distributing water purifiers and vital medicines to needy communities.

Your donation will greatly help provide emergency relief to afflicted communities.
