| The South African Education and Environment Project (SAEP) needs volunteers to work in its Early Childhood Development Programme. SAEP supports ten Early Childhood Development (ECD) centres in Philippi, an impoverished township just outside of central Cape Town.
We need volunteers to teach children, especially those in the 4-6 age range who need to be ready to enter primary school; to run fun, interactive workshops and learning activities for the children; to train staff in teaching, management, financial management, computer skills, hygiene, cooking and nutrition, first aid and HIV/Aids; to paint and repair existing facilities and build new ones; and to contribute to fundraising efforts. We also need volunteers who are trained social workers and psychologists to work with the children and ECD centre principals and teachers.
This opportunity can be tailored to be full-time or part-time, depending on the volunteers' skills and needs.
