Number of Staff: 250

Description of Services:
Cross-Cultural Solutions (CCS) volunteers work side-by-side with local people on community-led initiatives in the areas of caregiving, teaching, healthcare, and community development.

Volunteers choose from locations in Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, and Latin America, programs from 1-12 weeks and start dates year-round.

CCS takes care of all the logistics so you can focus on your volunteer experience. CCS in-country staff members are highly qualified professionals with years of experience in supporting volunteers and facilitating cross-cultural exchange. Over 25,000 people have participated in CCS programs around the world.
History:
In 1994, Steve Rosenthal took the money he had saved as an engineer at AT&T and bought a one-way ticket to Nepal and from there traveled around the world. But something about a village in Kenya stayed in his mind. For Steve, the rewards didn't become clear until his return to the U.S. With Indian community organizer, Bela Singh, he decided to help people experience what he did in his year of traveling and began recruiting volunteers.

Today, CCS has a worldwide staff of over 250 people, and operates in 12 countries, with administrative offices also located in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia.
Accomplishments & Progress:
CCS is a recognized leader in the field of international volunteering, with over 30,000 volunteers. CCS is in Special Consultative Status with the United Nations, has a partnership with CARE International, one of the world's largest international humanitarian organizations, and plays a leading role with the Brookings Initiative on International Volunteering and Service. Since 1995 CCS has been profiled in more than 1,000 news outlets.
