Project: 24-Hour Crisis Line

"I sat on a hospital bed answering questions...how did I let this happen again?...A nurse came in. Asked me if I had a place to go...Where was actually safe? He knows everywhere I turn for comfort. A social worker came to my room and put a phone in my hand telling me to call A Safe Place."

In 2010, A Safe Place received about 5,550 calls to our 24-hour crisis line. We provided shelter services for about 80 women and 75 children at the confidential shelter location. That amounts to about 2,750 bed nights that year.

For more than 30 years domestic violence victims have been able to contact A Safe Place for support and resources. If they are facing an emergency situation due to domestic violence, clients receive confidential shelter, food and necessities, and counseling for themselves and their children. If they are not facing an emergency situation stemming from domestic violence and they contact the shelter line they are referred to other local agencies for assistance.
